MYTHS ABOUT HYPNOSIS

WILL I LOSE CONTROL OF MY MIND?
No! During the Hypnosis interview (pre-talk), you will tell the hypnotist what changes you want to make; then those suggestions are given to you during hypnosis. If you don’t understand or like a suggestion that was given to you then your subconscious will reject it.

WILL I BARK LIKE A DOG OR QUACK LIKE A DUCK?
No! That is stage hypnosis and it is used for entertainment purposes. Hypnotherapy is used for self-improvement with excellent results. During stage hypnosis people volunteer to accept “funny suggestions” and play them out. Remember if you don’t like the suggestion your mind just rejects it. You are ALWAYS IN CONTROL.

WILL I TELL ALL MY SECRETS?
No! You are ALWAYS aware of what you say and do while in hypnosis. If you wouldn’t tell your secrets out of hypnosis you won’t tell them in hypnosis.

IS HYPNOSIS BLACK MAGIC OR VOO DOO?
No! Hypnosis is based on scientific principles. The American Medical Association approved the use of hypnosis in 1958.

CAN I GET STUCK IN HYPNOSIS?
No! You can’t get stuck in hypnosis; you are completely aware of your surroundings at all times. You are not asleep; hypnosis is not an unconscious state. If an emergency happened around you, you would simply open your eyes and emerge.

IF I HAVE A STRONG MIND CAN I BE HYPNOTIZED?
Yes! Anyone who has average or above average intelligence, can focus, and WANTS to be hypnotized can be. During the pre-talk interview suggestibility tests will be done to determine the best way for you to be hypnotized. Your decision to use hypnosis means that your mind is already open to the idea.
